MYLAR DARK

Hilariously named in honour of an incident after a gig in Portsmouth when someone asked the band “why are you all so tall, are you Dutch?”, London band Mylar's sophomore EP Human Statues is out now via tastemakers Blue Flowers. And whilst, it's namesake comes from an entertaining literal event, there are far conceptual elements at play throughout the release as the band make reference to "characters in the songs who seem removed from society but are also seeking our attention." Landing alongside the EP is a brightly coloured visualiser for 'Dark' - a blissed out offering that floats in the same ethereal world as Canadian dream-poppers TOPS and Arthur Russell. Woozy and light, in contrast to its title, bendy guitars add an absurd edge to the otherwise pristine production. Listen to 'Dark' and the rest of Human Statues if you're in need of a little sonic escapism. -Holly Mullineaux
